At Vox Vera®, we train business leaders in the human communication skills required to speak, connect, and deliver under scrutiny.

The Human Side of Leadership Presence

Most executives who reach senior leadership receive extensive training in strategy, analysis, management, and decision‑making. They know their material. They’ve earned their authority. They can delegate and manage workflow. They’ve worked hard to get where they are.

And yet — when the stakes rise and the room is watching — their message doesn't always connect.

The board presentation that sounded clear in rehearsal feels disjointed. The investor conversation that should inspire confidence lands oddly flat. The employee town hall, the regulatory hearing, the media moment, the conversation that matters most — people listen, but they don’t quite feel it.

Not because the content is wrong, but because the instrument carrying it was never trained to connect on a human level.

What This Work Is (And Isn't)

By training the breath, voice, and presence capacities that empower leaders to connect, persuade, and hold a room, our executive clients learn to meet high-stakes moments with clarity and consistency.

Spoken language is different than written language — it’s multidimensional. Listeners don’t just process words; they register tone, rhythm, posture, breath, emotion, responsiveness, and all the other rapidly changing information in the room — often before they register semantic meaning.  

 

All of these need to align for us to trust the speaker. That’s why most presentation skills training — trying to project confidence “own the room”, or manage impressions — often backfires among discerning audiences. We trust coherence and humanity, and distrust strain and self-conscious control.

This isn’t presentation coaching, media training, or leadership development in the conventional sense. We don’t teach surface tips or Zoom etiquette. Our work goes beyond behavior — allowing us to train the physical craft necessary for compelling communication under changing conditions.

Vox Vera trains leaders to harmonize all aspects of communication, not just polish its surface. Our work assumes curiosity, courage, physicality, and personal responsibility. It's rigorous, embodied, and deeply energizing — and the rewards for leaders who dive in can be immense.

Why Even Brilliant Leaders Struggle Under Pressure

Most people who come to us are already excellent thinkers. They’ve mastered complex material. They’re decisive, capable, and respected.

What they haven’t been taught is how to properly prepare for — and respond when — the body encounters pressure.

When attention turns toward you, physiology leads. Breath shifts. Muscles tighten. Attention narrows. The voice either pushes or pulls away.

That’s not a confidence problem. It’s not a personality issue, or a failure of preparation.
 

It’s a training gap.

Most executive communication training optimizes for predictability: presentation outlines, cognitive frameworks, controlled gestures, and behavioral cues. That works — until the room pushes back. And in high-stakes leadership, it often does.

 

Under load, conscious control degrades and habitual physical patterns dominate. If those patterns were never trained, even the most capable leaders end up working harder than they need to.

And the room feels it.

Tips → Technique → Capacity

Most executives were taught communication through tips and tricks:

Stand up straight. Make eye contact. Slow down. Project confidence. Manage your gestures. Eliminate filler words.

These cues are well‑intentioned. They’re also surface‑level, and frequently counterproductive because they keep you in your head. Under pressure, they fail because pressure degrades conscious processing.

Technique is the next step up in physical craft. In public speaking and conflict resolution, it's how breath actually supports sound, how the body organizes itself for stability, how attention stays balanced and responsive. Real technique can be taught, practiced, and refined.

But technique only serves you when it fuels capacity — when trained deeply enough into the body that it’s available without conscious thought. When breath support is habitual, you don’t have to remember it. When grounding is automatic, it holds even when cognition is overwhelmed.

This is embodied performance craft. It’s what professional performers, musicians, and elite athletes train long before the spotlight is on them.

When capacity is trained, confidence doesn’t need to be performed.

It’s a natural byproduct.

And because it’s physical, it’s reliable — even when cognition is overloaded.

Not Everyone Who Talks About Presence & Delivery Can Teach It

“Embodiment” is easy to name but hard to demonstrate and teach.


True performance work requires trained perception: the ability to observe someone speaking for seconds and accurately diagnose whether the limiting factor is breath, vocal production, posture, attention, or something else entirely.


That capacity doesn’t come from presentation skills checklists or weekend certifications. It comes from decades of disciplined physical training in environments where failure is immediate and visible.


When embodiment is taught without this foundation — without training in coaching physical delivery skills — it stays conceptual.

Vox Vera was founded by Paul Marchegiani — a former BigLaw litigator and Fortune‑50 senior studio executive who has worked inside high‑stakes professional environments where judgment is evaluated in real time, every day.  We’ve negotiated multimillion-dollar deals at Amazon Studios, Warner Bros., and NBCUniversal, navigated Wall Street expectations, ownership changes, and public scrutiny. We've felt the stakeholder fears, the crisis communications, the media strategy, the big swings, and the board meetings where everything is on the line.

Paul holds a conservatory degree in classical voice, professional performance credits with the LA Opera and San Francisco Symphony, and is the only U.S. lawyer and senior business executive certified in Patsy Rodenburg’s voice and presence methods — one of fewer than 100 worldwide trained in her approach.

This work sits at the intersection of deep performance craft, lived professional pressure, and trained perception.

We teach what we’ve learned in our bodies, not just our minds.
